Poetry | ... of Gods and Bibles

Since no one living has seen God,
God exists only in our sundry minds.
My God couldn't be the same as your God
Since both are figments, not experience.
And, since any assemblage of books is claimed to be sanctified
By wrapping the chosen tomes in a shiny, soft, black-leather cover
And calling it "Holy" (as in Holy Bible,
Holy Quran, Holy Bhagavad Gita, Or Holy Whatever)
How do we decide which is Holy and which is UnHoly?
We cannot — even though our Boss-clerics try to dictate such.
But do the Boss-clerics succeed? They do not—
Given that each person's neural pathways are unique.
My God is one analogy, yours is another.
As much as we would like to conform to our Boss-denomination's Boss-clerics and to present ourselves as conforming, we cannot. Not really.
So don't feel bad — enjoy the fellowship — it will be our little secret.
