Poetry | In the Interim

In the Interim

© 2009 Vernon Miles Kerr

In the interim ‘tween dark and dark

We scrape,  we scratch, we endure—

Assuming  import.

As that interim narrows to a slit

We scramble to gather

Shreds of legacy,

Hoping they  will live on

In the interim of others.

Would that we rather leave

Shreds of relevancy.

But alas—those others’

Interms are narrowing too.
